Long Term Evolution (LTE) is a 4th generation wireless network that utilizes Evolved Packet Core (EPC) – an All-IP core network. The Evolved Packet System (EPS) combines LTE radio network and EPC. The EPC in conjuction with Policy and Charging Control (PCC) framework and IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) provides voice, video, and data services as well as interworking with currently deployed wireless networks such as GSM/UMTS, 1x/1xEV-DO and WiMAX/WiFi. This is very exciting to wireless operators who are eager to deploy multimedia rich Internet content over a wireless medium with seamless access anywhere, anytime.
